
Jimena Madrigal
Junior Research Fellow
Jimena is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Economics and Public Policy at Sciences Po Paris’s School of Public Affairs. She also holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science from the same institution.
In the last two years she has devoted a significant amount of time to civic activism pursuits within a Costa Rican civil society association. She has contributed to draft a series of popular initiative, legal and constitutional reform bills to amend the shortcomings of the domestic electoral system and representative democracy at large. She also has formal research experience in political economy, focused on governance and national economic planning.
Jimena is particularly intrigued by questions pertaining to distributive justice, social security provision and economic policy. She has also developed a keen interest in international development and the various factors that drive social mobility.
In her free time, she enjoys drawing, painting and practicing martial arts.
